Young At Heart

On his seventy-fifth birthday, a famous U.S. general made this observation: “Youth is not entirely a time of life; it is a state of mind. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt;… as young as your hope, as old as your despair.”

You can always have a spirit of youthfulness if you remember these thoughts: You are as young as your faith. Faith is trust. What are you trusting in? If you trust your life with Jesus Christ, He has promised, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5).

You are as young as your hope. With hope, life is an adventure, and even the hereafter holds no dread. The Christian’s hope is: “I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life… shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38, 39).

How can we have such faith and hope in God? We must simply believe His Word: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). God loved us so much that He sent His Son to pay the full penalty for our sins on the cross of Calvary. Three days later Jesus rose from the dead ascending to Heaven to prepare a home for all who will receive Him.

How do we receive Christ? Simply by trusting in Him. You must agree that you are a sinner and that your own good works can never save you. Believe that Christ has paid completely for your sins; then ask Him to be your Savior.

You can receive Christ as your Savior right now. Don’t reject Him. Life on earth is short, but your decision for Christ lasts for eternity. Pray right now, asking Jesus Christ to be your Savior.

Jesus said: “He that heareth My word, and believeth in Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24).

With Christ as your personal Savior, your sunset years can be the beginning of a beautiful eternity!
