Let Go…!

” Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)

The evangelist C.H. Spurgeon, once told of a man who had lost his way in the dark. He thought he had come near the edge of a precipice and was afraid of falling down the cliff. So he hung grimly to the branch of an old tree, convinced that if he let go, he would be shattered on the rocks below. There he hung with sweat on his brow, his hands and arms aching. Finally, unable to hold on any longer, he slipped – about one foot on to a soft, mossy bank, on which he lay unharmed and perfectly safe until dawn!

Some people who wish to be saved for eternity act similarly. They feel desperate and cling to whatever they think may give them hope or security for heaven.

The Bible, however, tells us to put our faith in Jesus Christ. We can simply drop into His arms. He said, “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). So stop trying to hold on to anything other than Christ. Let it go, whether it is your own righteousness, your feelings or religious rites. Entrust your life to the Lord Jesus and you will be safe.

Believe in His work of redemption accomplished on the cross and in the blood He shed to obtain peace. God’s Word says, “As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).

Whoever believes on the Son of God, receiving Him into his heart and life becomes a child of God by grace. What will you do?
