Sermons ArchiveDisplaying Sermons: 11 to 20 of 176[previous] [next] The Glory of the Cross of Christ
April 9, 2011
Reading: 1 Corinthians 2
Duration: 32 minutes
George reads a letter that the apostle Paul sent to an early church that had developed some problems. One such problem was that factions had crept into the church and had divided people. However, the real issue was rooted even deeper than that and is something that plagues many churches today: Jesus is often portrayed as someone who did much good. That’s all good and well but that is certainly not the limit of how we should understand Him. In truth, Jesus can only be completely revealed by Scripture and in Scripture; He is revealed as the crucified Lamb of God and therein lays the problem. Have we really, honestly understood what this means and is this understanding reflected in our lives?
The Transformation of the Apostle Paul
March 26, 2011
Reading: Acts 9
Duration: 43 minutes
John reads and analyses the story of the apostle Paul and how he turned from one who persecuted the church to one who supported and encouraged it with all his strength. This is a transformation that was attributed to God alone and was astonishing to those around him, at that time. Interestingly, Pauls initial attempts to serve God were misguided. However, God made the changes that were necessary and empowered Paul to serve him properly. So, we see that God seeks those who are seeking Him. Are you one of those people?

In this message, George performs a quick examination of one the Old Testament books. George helps us develop a better understanding.

Duration: 37 minutes
George examines one of the many parables that Jesus spoke to the people of His time. This particular parable deals with the 4 categories of people and how they receive and respond to the Word of God. The Awesome Power to Transform
December 25, 2010
Reading: Mark 5:1-20
Duration: 40 minutes
Phillip reads and examines the story of a man who was possessed and out of his mind. He was wild, lived in the mountains and lived away from everyone else. No one knew how to handle this man. They even tried to shackle him, to no avail. However, when he crossed paths with Jesus, he was healed. The Bible gives us no detail about this man, his life or how he became this way. We get no detail because it does not matter. Anyone who crosses paths with Jesus, regardless of background or previous events, gets to experience the awesome power Jesus has to positively transform a life.
You get what you give
November 13, 2010
Reading: Genesis 27
Duration: 45 minutes
From the Bible, John examines Isaacs family. Living in ancient times, this was a family that was blessed by God but that also made some serious mistakes. Using the behaviour of this family as background, John delves into one of the great, immutable spiritual laws and how it affected this family: You will reap what you sow. The question for you is simple. Based on what you are putting into your life, what is it that you think you will receive?
The Persecuted Church
October 23, 2010
Reading: Revelations 2:8 -11
Duration: 47 minutes
Phillip reads and explains the message given by God to the church in the ancient city of Smyrna, also referred to as the poor little rich church. At the time, Smyrna was a large and prosperous city and was also known as the City of Temples because it entertained a large variety of pagan religions. Gods message to his little church, however, was one of encouragement and promise because it suffered tribulation and persecution at the hands of the people of that city. Today, those who hold true to Gods Word also face persecution but they are encouraged to endure. In so doing, they get to enjoy Gods comfort, reassurance and promise of eternal life.
Freedom from God
October 2, 2010
Reading: Exodus 21:1-7
Duration: 39 minutes
History has chronicled efforts by various people around the world fighting and dying for liberty, such is its value. In Australia, we have the liberty to make our own choices and to practice our own religion; a freedom not shared equally amongst all countries. Unfortunately, today this gift has been exploited to extremes as people exercise this liberty as being free of Gods laws. With the progress of time, Gods laws are becoming increasingly eroded by society. As a result, the pain and the repercussions are becoming evermore evident.
So Close and Yet So Far
September 4, 2010
Reading: 2 kings 5: 19-27
Duration: 45 minutes
This week, we hear the story of Gehazi. He was the servant of the prophet Elisha – a true man of God. As such, Gehazi had the privilege of witnessing the awesome power and presence of God. He was sheltered and blessed as a result of his position and had the opportunity to learn much from Elisha. Sadly, however, he wanted more and did not appreciate or understand what he already had. He was so close to God but not quite close enough. Unfortunately, the outcome for Gehazi was condemnation for life. The message here, is that if you are only somewhat near to God, then you are invited to come in all the way. It is the best place to be.
Who do you say that I am?
August 28, 2010
Reading: Mathew 16:13-28
Duration: 45 minutes
There is very little doubt amongst believers and non-believers alike, that Jesus Christ was one of the greatest influencers of western society, who ever lived. Today, if you ask people who He was, you will get an array of answers ranging from savior, to misguided, to teacher and to some, unfortunately, a contemptible person. As we approach the end of Christs ministry on earth and judgment soon thereafter, the question is posed to you. Who do you think that Jesus Christ is? The answer is critical. He came to die for our sins and to reconcile us with God. If your opinion is different, we invite and encourage you to reevaluate what you think and what you know.
