Perspective - They came, they played and they left |

| What a game! I didn’t know whom to support -the Socceroos or the Greek team – a problem I and many other Greek Australians faced on Thursday 25th May. The problem was not resolved when the game started and I caught myself on the edge of my seat when either side seemed to be within shot of the net. Something wrong with that but I’m not sure what. It is not uncommon for us to be torn between 2 competing needs. Between living for the moment versus setting some foundations for the future. Between working harder now to secure a better lifestyle later versus spending more time with loved ones now. Between going out with our friends versus studying harder to successfully complete our course. It is not uncommon for us to be torn between 2 loved ones. They have a falling out and somehow you are left to decided who you will support with them waiting on the sidelines staring and waiting. For example, between your parents that have decided they want out and you have to choose between them. Between friends that have turned sour and as a mutual friend you don’t want to be involved picking sides. It is not uncommon to be torn between risks. What happens if I buy this now and the market tanks? Should I invest in this company… if it makes a gold discovery… but what if it flops? Should I marry this person… what if it doesn’t work out? Fortunately we don’t have to face those decisions every day of our life. But there is a decision that calls for our attention every day. It is the question about what to do with Jesus Christ. If there is no heaven or hell… but what if there is? What if Jesus is real and alive and is coming back again? Joshua confronted the nation of Israel and said to them, “Choose today whom you will serve.” That is the decision that confronts us. Jesus said we cannot serve 2 masters. We need to choose one. Jesus spoke of the heavenly home prepared for those that have given their hearts to Him. He tells us that He will come back again to take us to be with Him. The big question for you today is, are you ready to meet Him? |
