Central Victorian Gospel Radio In Danger Of Being Taken Off The Air
Dear Friends,
Central Victorian Gospel Radio is a Victorian Christian Radio station that first began transmissions from the channel 8 TV site on Mt Alexander in Harcourt on the 3rd of December 1984. Today, it continues to broadcast on 101.5 FM covering a 100 km radius on a temporary broadcast license until the authorities make available a permanent license in the near future, God willing.
This is an update regarding proposed changes to the 101.5 fm frequency. The Australian Communication and Media Authority are seeking written submissions from the public on proposals to make 89.5 FM available to the ABC as a news radio channel. The users of 89.5, Fresh and Phoenix will have to share the 101.5 frequency that CVGR presently uses, if the ACMA's Proposal is adopted.
It is time to write to the ACMA at Sydney. The address is PO Box Q 500, Queen Victoria Building, NSW, 1230. All submissions must be in by 5 Pm Friday the 19th September, 2008.
Now is a good time to contact your local Member of Parliament as they are sitting on the 25th August. Page 188 in the white pages of the phone book has the 1300 phone numbers of most of the members of Parliament that you can ring.
Some Suggestions:
- You may suggest that the ABC be given a spot on the AM band instead of over crowding the FM band.
- You can tell them which station you listen to and why.... Different styles of music ,true stories, teaching from notable men etc.
- Tell them whether or not you want news and parliamentary broadcasts. Community radio is a good opportunity to learn new skills, and can be a stepping stone to a better job.
- 89.5 FM was allocated for a community radio and the need still exists.
Steve Gibbons Rang at 2pm on Tuesday 19/8/08, He is wanting as many as possible to sign a petition. He is sending 200 forms to CVGR. Steve also is trying to get the ACMA to Bendigo for a consultation. He said he wants 89.5 to stay and Gospel radio to be given a license on 101.5
Yours sincerely
Bob Willmer
