A New Heart

There’s an old Indian fable about a mouse that like all mice, was afraid of cats. A wizard felt sorry for him and offered to help him lose his fear. So with the mouse’s approval, the wizard turned him into a cat. The cat, however, was afraid of dogs. So the wizard turned the cat into a dog. But the dog was afraid of tigers. So the wizard turned the dog into a tiger. When the wizard discovered that the tiger was afraid of hunters, he exclaimed in disgust, “You’re hopeless. What you needed was a change of heart! And that I cannot give you.”

People too need a new heart. Rather than merely being fixed up on the outside, they must be completely changed on the inside to overcome their sin-related fears. This inner change occurs when we admit our sinfulness and place our trust in Christ for salvation. By God’s Spirit we are born again, and we become a “new creation.” Our perspective on life and the things of this world is transformed. We are at peace with God, and as we live in obedience to Him we experience the peace of God. We are given the desire and the power to live a victorious life.

Have you experienced the miracle of the new birth? We all need a new start with a new heart. Only through the grace of God can you experience this wonderful transformation. Open up you’re your heart to Jesus so that He can come and dwell within it today, making you a “new creation.”

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

"And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

John 8:32

Comment regarding Evolution: I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion of them.
